Vintage and Contemporary bracelets
Where in the heck did bracelets come from?
There are more types of bracelets than you can imagine. Forged from metal, leather, cloth, plastic or other materials. In addition,
of course, the most valuable and desired are those with gems and other jewels. But where the heck did they come from?
The origin of bracelets
What is the origin you ask? Although the term armlet may be technically similar, it is taken to mean an item that sits on the upper shoulder: an arm ring. The origin of the term ‘bracelet’ is from a Greek word meaning ‘of the arm’, via the Old French ‘bracel’. Want to know more about their history? Okay, we know this is too technical.
But, a complete explanation of the origin of bracelets can be found in more detail on Wikipedia under “bracelets.” In the mean time, here is an ancient bracelet from Iran (530 BCE). Even by today’s tastes, it’s gorgeous.
